Joining your Windrose server can be done one of two ways: through a direct IP connection, or with your server's invite code. Only one method can be active at a time, and we generally suggest turning on Direct IP Connections for a more reliable join.
Connecting With a Direct IP
Windrose ships with Direct IP Connections turned off, so you'll need to flip the setting on and reboot the server before it'll accept direct joins.
- Sign in to the GhostCap Panel and
Stopyour Windrose server. - Head to
Server Optionsand changeEnable Direct IP Connectiontotrue. - Return to
Consoleand start the server again so the setting takes effect. - Grab the server IP address and port from the sidebar.
- Launch Windrose and pick
Play > Connect to server. - Switch to the
Direct IPtab. - Drop your IP into the
IP addressbox, put the port in thePortbox, and hitConnect via IP.
Example: A server at 198.137.23.46
should look like:198.137.23.46 7777
Turning on Direct IP Connections disables the Invite Code flow — they can't both be used at once.
Connecting With an Invite Code
If Direct IP is switched off, your server will instead be joinable through its invite code. Follow the steps below to grab the code and connect.
- Open the GhostCap Panel and select your Windrose server.
- From the sidebar, head into
File Manager. - Inside the
R5folder, openServerDescription.jsonand copy theInviteCodevalue. - Launch Windrose and choose
Play > Connect to server. - Paste the
InviteCodeinto the search box, then hitConnectonce your server shows up.
Prefer your own code? Edit the Server Invite Code field in Server Options and restart the server through Console for it to apply. Custom codes need to be 8 characters long.
